How it works
How single-slider windows operate
One sash remains fixed while the other slides sideways along the frame. The moving sash overlaps the fixed section as it opens, so ventilation is provided through part of the total window area.
Fixed sash
One glazed section remains stationary within the frame.
Moving sash
The operable section travels horizontally along its track toward the fixed section.
No outward projection
The sash stays within the plane of the window instead of swinging into exterior space.
