Cloudy panes
Cloudiness that cannot be wiped away
Moisture on the room side of a window can be related to indoor humidity and a cool glass surface. Moisture on the outside can appear under different weather conditions. Neither, by itself, proves that the sealed unit has failed.
Mist, droplets or persistent marks between the panes of sealed glass are different. We assess the affected unit, distinguish the glass issue from surrounding problems and check whether replacement glazing is suitable.
A replacement sealed unit provides a new assembly of panes and sealed edges. Clearing the visible fog, drilling the glass or applying surface caulking is not the same work.

Can just the glass be replaced?
Often, provided the frame and the sash—the part that holds the glass—can safely retain a compatible replacement. Some assemblies require a replacement sash or panel instead. The condition and construction of your window determine the scope.
How is a failed sealed unit identified?
Persistent mist, droplets or marks inside the space between sealed panes can indicate a failed edge seal or glass damage. Assessment first establishes where the moisture is and checks the glass and its surroundings. A photograph alone cannot establish every cause.
Does condensation mean the whole window has failed?
No. Moisture on an accessible room-side or outdoor surface can result from temperature and humidity conditions. Moisture inside a factory-sealed glass unit is a different issue. Older separate storm windows also need to be distinguished from sealed units.
What happens when only one pane of a sealed unit is broken?
A sealed unit is manufactured as a complete assembly of panes, spacers and edge seals. If a pane breaks, the usual replacement is the affected sealed glass unit, not just one sheet within it. The surrounding window may still be suitable to keep.
Can new glass match neighbouring windows?
We check the existing glass colour, coating, reflection and configuration when discussing a replacement. Age, discontinued specifications and differences in coatings can affect the match. Review the available choice before ordering; an exact visual match is not always possible.
Can existing grilles or privacy features be matched?
Include a photo of the pattern in your enquiry. The grille layout, colour, spacing and privacy texture need checking against available specifications. Grilles sealed between panes form part of the unit; do not assume they can be transferred or exactly reproduced.
Can patio-door glass be replaced separately?
Compatible glazing can be replaced within a suitable sliding-door panel. In other assemblies, a panel or complete door replacement may be the appropriate route. Glass replacement does not resolve worn rollers, damaged tracks or an out-of-square frame.
What condition must the frame and sash be in?
They need to support and retain the replacement glass correctly. Damage, distortion, decay, drainage problems or unsuitable retaining parts can change the proposal. Tell us about leaks or difficulty opening the window as well as the visible glass problem.
